Well it’s been over a week since we held the Falak Unreasonable Thinking Summit, and by all accounts it was a resounding success! People kept on thanking us during the event saying how educational and transformative it was. Many told us that the event changed them and left a lasting impression on them. We feel truly blessed to have been able to bring such a unique event to Bahrain.
But what made this event so unique? I think it was a multitude of things. First, though the overall theme was innovation, it was sector agnostic and featured speakers from a very wide range of fields. We had academics, entrepreneurs, VC’s, activists, technologists and researchers. Second, we focused less on professional speakers but doers – people who are actually doing unique and interesting things in their field. In short, they are Unreasonable Thinkers – people who, according to George Bernard Shaw, all progress in the world depends on.
Thirdly, we opened the event to anyone who is interested in innovation, regardless of their professional background. We had to filter the applicants as the free event was oversubscribed. We made sure to have a good mix of startup entrepreneurs, corporate executives, academics, high school/university students and government employees.
